Report: Mercedes-Benz Stadium Makes Big Change For SEC Championship

The upcoming SEC Championship Game may have a different atmosphere inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

According to FOX 5 Atlanta's Justin Felder, the venue is implementing a change to this year's conference title clash. For the first time, alcohol will be sold throughout the stadium during the SEC Championship Game.

Last year, fans were furious to see that Mercedes-Benz Stadium wasn't selling alcohol to the general admission. Only suites and club sections served alcohol when Alabama defeated Georgia in December.

This time, all fans of legal drinking age can purchase alcoholic beverages on Dec. 7.

Fans no longer must contemplate the unspeakable atrocity of staying sober for a few hours while watching football. However, they still have no idea which teams they'll witness in Atlanta.

At least one of Alabama or Georgia has played in the last 10 SEC title bouts, but that streak may end this year. The Crimson Tide handed the Bulldogs one of their two SEC losses, but they've fallen to Vanderbilt and Tennessee.

No SEC team is undefeated in conference play this season. Nine are ranked inside the top 25.

Five SEC programs are ahead of No. 15 Texas A&M in the College Football Playoff rankings, but Mike Elko's Aggies are tied with the Volunteers for the conference's best record (5-1).

The standings could get increasingly chaotic over the final three weeks.

Georgia hosts Tennessee in a highly consequential matchup this Saturday night. Texas A&M faces No. 3 Texas on the regular season's final Saturday.

Tennessee, Texas, and Texas A&M each control its path to Atlanta, but five other two-loss teams remain in the hunt. An eight-way tie for first place is still in play

Some fans may require liquid encouragement to withstand the tiebreaker scenarios if Georgia beats Tennessee and one of Texas or Texas A&M loses before its Nov. 30 meeting. At least they'll have that option on Dec. 7.
