The Pac-12, Big Ten and ACC are having "high-level discussions" about forming an alliance between the three conferences, according to The Athletic's Max Olson.
It's unclear how scheduling would work between the three conferences, but they would vote on key concerns, including College Football Playoff expansion and any "NCAA governance changes," Olson adds.
When asked for comment, Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff told Olson he has been in frequent contact with other commissioners "about the complex issues that are facing the industry." However, Kliavkoff added, "there is nothing to report on this specific matter at this time."
The news comes after it was revealed that Big 12 giants Oklahoma and Texas have plans to join the SEC. The two schools will reportedly leave the Big 12 by 2025.
ESPN's Adam Rittenberg confirmed Olson's report, saying the conferences "have engaged in preliminary talks about an alliance, likely centered on scheduling."
If the three conferences were to merge, some of the nation's top schools would be involved, including Oregon, USC, Ohio State, Michigan, Clemson, Florida State and Boston College.
