On3 and 247 both reported Tuesday night that Iowa Football would be playing host to Auburn transfer quarterback Hank Brown on Thursday. The portal opened on Monday, and the redshirt freshman was in there.

The Hawkeyes indicated last week that they would be looking for help at quarterback. After transfers, they have one scholarship signal caller on the roster in Brendan Sullivan.

Brown (6-4, 208) played in the Music City Bowl against Maryland as a true freshman last year. He completed 7 of 9 passes for 132 yard in a game the Terrapins won, 31-13.

The Nashville native appeared in four games this Fall, starting two of them. He completed 27 of 43 throws for 403 yards and six touchdowns with three interceptions. The Tigers finished 5-7.

Brown was recruited by offensive coordinator Phillips Montgomery, who was fired after the '23 season. He held the job for one year.

The 247 composite rankings had Brown as a three-star prospect, the No. 71 quarterback nationally and the No. 40 player overall in Tennessee for the 2023 Class. He reported scholarship offers from Illinois, Minnesota, Pittsburgh and others.
