Ronnie Bell’s younger brother may see a unique roll with the Wolverines

For the Bell family, the University of Michigan is becoming a tradition. While Ronnie Bell — one of the best receivers that Michigan football has seen over the past decade — is on his way out, his younger brother Kendrick is on his way in. Kendrick Bell, a member of Michigan’s 2023 recruiting class, is heading into his freshman season with the Maize and Blue. According to head coach Jim Harbaugh, the younger Bell brother may see an unorthodox roll during his time in Ann Arbor.

Kendrick Bell could see unique roll with Michigan football

Kendrick Bell, like Ronnie Bell, came to the University of Michigan as an under-the-radar three-star offensive recruit. According to On3, Michigan was one of three notable teams to offer Kendrick Bell, alongside UMass and Northern Iowa. The On3 Industry Rankings list Bell as the No. 25 quarterback in the 2023 recruiting class and the No. 12 player in Missouri.

Kendrick Bell boasts an incredible 6-foot-3, 180-pound frame heading into his freshman year at Michigan and could see a unique roll due to his athletic abilities. According to Jim Harbaugh, just because Bell was a quarterback in high school doesn’t mean he will stay that way in college.

“[Ronnie’s] brother Kendrick, great athlete who loves to compete,” Jim Harbaugh said about Kendrick Bell after National Signing Day. “And he’s told me he’s willing to play any position. So it could be quarterback, could be receiver, could be corner — he’s got the skillset to play all those. So, we’ll start him out at QB and we’ll roll from there. But extremely productive football player who’s very versatile.”

With the Michigan football QB room looking a little full — especially with the future addition of five-star Jadyn Davis — we could see Kendrick Bell make his rounds on offense and defense in the years to come. When you’re athletic enough to play Division 1 football at Michigan at just about any skill position, Jim Harbaugh will want to give you a unique role and mobilize your talent.
