2026 NFL Draft: Rueben Bain Jr. Scouting Report

Rueben Bain Jr. enters the 2026 NFL Draft as one of the top EDGE prospects available. He had a productive college career for the Miami Hurricanes and played extremely well in big games. While in Coral Gables, he was the 2025 ACC Defensive Player of the Year en route to serving as one of the best pass rushers in the nation. Bain also won the Ted Hendricks Award as the nation’s top defensive end and was a consensus All-America first-team selection. He would start all 16 games and tallied 15.5 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks to go along with 54 tackles.

Bain is strong at the point of attack and has explosive quickness off the line of scrimmage with elite bend to get around opposing offensive tackles. His versatility to potentially kick inside on rushing downs will likely be intriguing to DT-needy teams, as he often wins with an initial punch that displaces defenders.

Bottom Line on Rueben Bain Jr.

The bottom line on Bain is that he possesses many of the traits NFL teams covet in an EDGE defender. He is a fundamentally sound player who can win in a multitude of ways. Bain has shown the ability to take over games and seems to get better as the game goes on. His positional versatility is a huge plus for his draft stock, despite some limitations that a team will be willing to gamble on. Lastly, his football intelligence is impressive, and he quickly diagnoses plays that other defenders around him benefit from.

Regardless of where Bain is drafted, he should excel in almost any system as one of the top-tier DL prospects in this draft class. He can be an immediate starter on day one and could quickly ascend to a Pro Bowl-caliber performer.
