Independence Day has a chance to be a day where the Ohio State Buckeyes add a big time recruiting target
According to 247Sports, Ohio State currently holds the No. 5-ranked recruiting class in the country, with 19 commitments. The Buckeyes are expected to add only a few more players in this 2026 class.
One of those potential additions is the Buckeyes’ top remaining target: five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo, one of the top linemen in the country, who is set to announce his commitment on the Fourth of July.
Mansfield (TX) standout Felix Ojo took to social media on Monday afternoon to announce his upcoming decision. The in-state Texas Longhorns are widely viewed as the overwhelming favorite in his recruitment, with Ohio State considered the second-most likely destination.

Michigan and Florida are also in the mix, but they are currently seen as trailing both Texas and Ohio State. According to 247Sports, Ojo is ranked as the No. 2 offensive tackle and the No. 7 overall player in the country.
Ohio State already has two offensive tackle commitments: four-star Sam Greer and three-star Aaron Thomas. On the interior line, the Buckeyes also hold commitments from four-star Maxwell Riley and three-star Tucker Smith.
Landing Ojo would be a significant recruiting upset for the Buckeyes. At 6-foot-6 and 275 pounds, he’s one of the most talented offensive tackle prospects in the nation. Ohio State has struggled in recent cycles to land elite offensive tackles, but new offensive line coach Tyler Bowen is still early in his tenure after replacing Justin Frye.
If the Buckeyes can pull off the surprise and land Ojo, Independence Day will feel like a true celebration for the Ohio State football program.
