Ryan Day confirms Ohio State Buckeyes have somewhat of an unexpected weapon who is already breaking out

Jackson rushed for 109 yards on just nine carries — a week after he posted 108 yards on the same number of attempts against Grambling State. The former four-star recruit has been the most impactful freshman for the Buckeyes early on this season and clearly looks like their most explosive running back. He saw action early against Ohio and finished as the leading rusher once again, matching CJ Donaldson’s team-high nine carries despite not starting.

The freshman flashed in fall camp, though most expected James Peoples to claim the starting role with Donaldson as his backup. Against Ohio, Peoples carried the ball seven times for 47 yards, while Donaldson had nine carries for 39.

“Bo Jackson is that guy. You’re going to see more of that throughout the rest of the season,” star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith said after the game.

Ohio State appears ready to expand Jackson’s workload, giving them a true three-man running back rotation. The freshman has come in and asserted himself as the home run hitter of the group, and the Buckeyes’ coaching staff isn’t going to be able to keep him off the field.
