Ryan Day has been keeping a close eye on the head coaching chaos around the country and is starting to make a move toward luring in some elite talent. With Florida, Penn State, LSU, and several other programs making a big move toward a new direction, a slew of high-end recruits are considering whether they still want to attend the school they committed to. Some are swaying elsewhere, so why not Ohio State?

Florida's stranglehold on the state has been gone for some time, and Day's Buckeyes are part of that equation. While the 2026 class patiently awaits to see if Lane Kiffin is coming to town, which seems unlikely, Day isn't sitting back. He's bringing in four-star cornerback CJ Bronaugh for a visit against UCLA.

Here's more about Bronaugh and Ohio State's efforts.

Ohio State offers Florida commit CJ Bronaugh scholarship and locks in visit

Bronaugh received an offer from the Buckeyes this past weekend and quickly settled on a visit on Nov. 15. Leaving Florida looks to be a sure thing right now, as he told On3 that the Buckeyes are "the only program standing out in his recruitment," and that he's only heard from Michigan and Texas in passing.

At 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, Bronaugh fits the mold of what secondary coach Tim Walton loves.

The fourth-highest rated commit in Florida right now, Bronaugh would pair with elite safety prospects Blaine Bradford and Simeon Caldwell, plus corner Jordan Thomas. Ohio State also flipped three-star safety Khmari Bing from Maryland.

Bronaugh would bolster Ohio State's ninth-ranked 2026 recruiting class as the 115th overall prospect and 15th-best corner in 2026. Here's a scouting report from On3's Director of Scouting, Charles Power.

“CJ Bronaugh is one of the fastest prospects in the cycle,” Power wrote. “I think he would contend as the fastest prospect we’ve seen to this point in the cycle, at least among blue-chip types. State champion in the 100 and 200-meters and has already ran a 10.3 time in the 100-meters as a junior. In addition to the high-end speed, he played really well as a junior, came down with six interceptions and looks to have solid size. You look at his elite athleticism, combined with the ball skills, those are attributes we value at the corner position.”
