The Ohio State Buckeyes won their first national championship since Urban Meyer patrolled the sidelines in 2014 earlier this year as they defeated Marcus Freeman and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the 2025 National Championship Game.

The Buckeyes' success was the culmination of a four-game run in the College Football Playoff that had many media analysts and pundits eating their words after previously calling for head coach Ryan Day's firing.

On Tuesday, Day joined a college football podcast to share his thoughts during Big Ten Media Days in Las Vegas during which he revealed the one standout position group from the offseason that has he and his staff excited.

Day spoke with the 'Kings of the North' podcast during which he shared his thoughts on myriad topics, including the Buckeyes offense which he said is striving for balance this season.

Many fans have clamored for Ohio State to just throw the ball up to superstar wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, but Day cautioned that Ohio State's offense has to be much more than that.

"There has to be balance," Day said, "And I think, you know, Carnell Tate, Brandon Inniss, Bryson Rogers, Mylan Graham, we have different weapons there.

"Our running backs have to be weapons out of the backfield as you saw with Trey and Quinshon last year.

"But I'm hoping that one of the big weapons we can have this year is the tight end. And I think that that room has really taken a step forward, so having balance is important."

Highly sought after Purdue transfer Max Klare leads a group that includes Will Kacmarek, Jelani Thurman and Christian Bennett in hopes of making tight end a position of strength next season in Columbus.
