The Ohio State Buckeyes are sitting right where they want to be as the No. 1 team in the country and at 7-0. Last up was a 34-0 win over the Wisconsin Badgers , now the Buckeyes will be off for a week until they host the Penn State Nittany Lions on Nov. 1. The week off will give the Buckeyes a chance to heal up any small injuries and implement any changes they want to make for the rest of the season and into the playoffs. It looks as if one of the changes could be up front with the protection for QB Julian Sayin.
Against Wisconsin, the entire offensive line outside of RG Tegra Tshabola played the entire game outside of the final snap when they were replaced. Tshabola played 44 snaps against Wisconsin and had some very shaky moments where he gave up pressure up the middle. The Buckeyes rotated in Joshua Padilla for the second game in a row and he played 26 snaps. College football is all about results and Padilla has been the better player in his action lately and Day kept it simple.
“Looking at everything,” Day stated.
Asked about the possibility of making a change from Tegra Tshabola to Joshua Padilla at right guard, Ryan Day says Ohio State is “looking at everything” during the bye week.

Tshabola has been the starter at right guard the last two seasons but continues to face pressure keeping his job this season. Ohio State has to roll with their best five up front to protect their stud quarterback and they’re making sure of that ahead of when the games are going to mean a lot more down the stretch run. Padilla is a 6-foot-4, 300-pound guard from Huber Heights, Ohio, and is in his junior season. Day said he believes that Tshabola’s best ball is ahead of him on Tuesday and that shows the confidence he has in him.
"I think his journey has been a story of somebody who each week is taking what he gets on the field, learning and growing and getting back to work," Day said of Tshabola. "He's a guy that shows up every day ready to work."
It’s not to say the Buckeyes are going to for sure make a switch, but the door is clearly open for Padilla to be the right guard going forward if this continues. Ohio State would likely implement any full-time change during the bye week, so it’s going to be interesting to see what the plan is up front after the bye and going into the Penn State game.
