Week 6 of the college football season brought a complete showing for the Ohio State Buckeyes with their impressive win over the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Minnesota was able to score a field goal on its opening possession, but the Buckeyes didn’t allow them to score from that moment on. Ohio State walked away with a 42-3 win over Minnesota in their second Big Ten game of the season.
The Buckeyes are 5-0 to start the year as they try to run last year’s National Championship back. Ohio State is off to a good start and that’s a testament to the players and coaching staff. Ryan Day is 75-10 as a head coach in Columbus and now has the highest win percentage in college football history. Day now has an .882 percent win percentage as a head coach and that clears the .881 mark that was held by Knute Rockne.
"I'm glad you brought that up because this is the last game I'll ever be coaching at Ohio State," Day said after the accolade was mentioned. "I'm gonna hang it up, and that's it. I'm gonna do a walk off right now — I've appreciated being the coach here."
No, a long way to go,” Day continued. “It has everything to do with the players, the coaches, and this place... Some of these seasons are like dog years at Ohio State, but I'm fortunate to be here, and I know what the obligation is, I know what the expectation is, and so do these players and coaches, so we'll just keep swinging away."
When told he surpassed Knute Rockne as college football's all-time leader in head coaching winning percentage, Ryan Day had jokes:

"Well, I'm glad you brought that up because this is the last game I'll ever be coaching at Ohio State," Day said with a laugh. "I'm gonna hang it…
Being the head coach at Ohio State comes with great pressure and Day has seen that with some of his shortcomings that have happened. Ohio State has lost four straight games to Michigan and that’s something they’ll try to change again in November. The one blemish on Day’s tenure in Columbus is his inconsistency with beating Michigan. Urban Meyer never lost to Michigan and that hasn’t been able to carry into Day’s tenure thus far.
Beating Minnesota with a full-game showing in all three phases was what the No. 1 team needed to look like. It’s one week at a time and that approach has the Buckeyes in good standing two games into conference play. Ohio State fans don’t need to worry about Day retiring, as that was just a joke on his part. The vibes are high in Columbus.
