Ohio State football reeled off four consecutive wins in 2024 and 2025's College Football Playoff, staking claim to the national championship and fueling what could be an offseason of retooling in hopes of capturing another one next season.
Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day redeemed himself after two shattering regular season losses to Oregon and Michigan, and now has his sights set on goals inspired by former OSU coach Woody Hayes.
Day revealed his thoughts on Hayes' tenure and the pinnacle he plans to reach in the coming years in comments shared to TNT's Ernie Johnson and Charles Barkley on Monday.
"Woody Hayes is the last one to win multiple national championships at Ohio State," Day said. "That's something I've now set for myself. To be the next head coach to win multiple championships at Ohio State.
"There's still a lot more to be done," Day added.
Hayes won national championships in 1954, 1957 and 1968. He's one of three active coaches to claim national titles including Dabo Swinney of Clemson and Kirby Smart of Georgia.
Day's Buckeyes have signed two five-star prospects so far for the Class of 2025; quarterback Tavien St. Clair of Bellefontaine, Ohio and cornerback Devin Sanchez of Houston, Texas.
