The College Football Playoff national championship game is set with No. 8 seed Ohio State facing off against No. 7 Notre Dame.
The showdown will take place in Atlanta on January 20, and the winner will become the first-ever champion of the 12-team playoff field.
Ahead of the game, the question has been asked about the drama between Ohio State head coach and legend Lou Holtz.
In September 2023, Holtz went viral for saying that "everybody (that) beats him [Ryan Day], does so because they are more physical than Ohio State. And I think Notre Dame will take that same approach," per Brad Crawford of 247Sports.
After Ohio State defeated Notre Dame, 23-13, on September 23, 20243, Day went on an epic rant and mentioned Holtz's name.
"I'd like to know where Lou Holtz is right now," Day said. What he said about our team, I can not believe."

Ahead of the title game, Day was asked about the beef and if he and Holtz had moved on or talked about it since then. However, the Buckeyes coach gave a blunt response: "No."

Reporter: “Coach have you and Lou Holtz ever talked since then? Patching things up for the comments between you?”:
Coach Day: “No…”

Day didn't speak or answer any other questions about the Holtz drama, and the only words he uttered were "no."
It's quite the story going into the national title game, especially with Holtz being the last coach to lead Notre Dame to a national title, which came in 1988.
