Former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe has garnered plenty of attention following an impressive pro-day performance, including from his own ex-teammates. Even then, however, there still appears to be some sibling-like rivalries between Milroe and his former wideouts.
Alabama standout wide receiver Ryan Williams had some jokes for his old quarterback on Thursday. When told of Milroe's 4.37u 40-yard dash time, Williams had a blunt response that garnered some chuckles from the surrounding reporters.
"I would definitely beat 4.37," Williams said, with the "definitely" getting some extra emphasis. "We already talked about it, me and J-Mil. He has a sneak peak on what he thinks I'm going to run."
While there were mixed reports on his final time -- SEC Network had the aforementioned attempt clocking in between 4.44 and 4.60 seconds -- Milroe's unofficial 4.37 has been more than enough to turn heads from scouts and analysts alike.
For context, former Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III previously ran a 4.41, while NFL career rushing yards for a quarterback leader Lamar Jackson clocked in with a 4.34. This puts Milroe sandwiched in between arguably two of the most dynamic QB prospects in recent NFL history.
The 22-year-old Crimson Tide signal caller's NFL.com prospect profile refers to him as an "explosive athlete" who "has NFL arm strength," but also called his timing and anticipation under center into question. He currently bears a 6.14 prospect grade, denoting him as a "good backup with the potential to develop into [a] starter."
Milroe will hope to hear his name called in the 2025 NFL Draft, which runs from April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
