Alabama football will be in trouble on offense against Indiana if the Crimson Tide is one-dimensional, according to Nick Saban.
The Tide has struggled to run the football at times this season, and it has leaned on Ty Simpson for a good portion of its offensive production. Saban said this can not happen in the Rose Bowl on Thursday.
“I think if Alabama’s going to be one-dimensional, they’re going to have a hard time in this game and they’re going to play against a very, very good defensive team,” Saban said on ESPN’s College Gameday. “Indiana’s like fourth in the BCS in defense, I mean, which people don’t really realize. They got 17 interceptions, which leads the Big Ten. They get off the field on third down 28 percent of the time. They got the best red zone defense in the country, and they don’t have anybody playing defense that was above a three star when they were in high school… This is a really good defensive team, and they’re going to create lots of issues. And if you’re one-dimensional, it’s gonna be hard for Alabama to have success against this group.”
Fortunately for the Crimson Tide, its running back room is back healthy with the return of Jam Miller and Kevin Riley.
Alabama and Indiana go at it in the Rose Bowl with kickoff set for 3 p.m. CST on Thursday.
