SEC analyst Paul Finebaum continues to rail on Michigan

Michigan has been at the center of the college football world for all the wrong reasons.

Whether or not the Wolverines cheated and improperly stole signs, as alleged, is no longer the question. Rather, it's how high up did Connor Stalions' operation go? Was head coach Jim Harbaugh aware? Even if he wasn't, wouldn't he be culpable for cheating within his organization?

Those are the questions surrounding Michigan and those are certainly questions Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti will want to answer as soon as possible.

Whether those answers are satisfactory or not, though, SEC analyst and long-time SEC talking head Paul Finebaum believes the Michigan brand is already tainted.

Anything Harbaugh touches, at this point, will be tainted by this cheating scandal. That includes the College Football Playoff national championship trophy. That's why Petitti needs to suspend Harbaugh indefinitely, per Finebaum.

"Everything that happens from here on with the University of Michigan is going to be tainted and I think that's the real issue here for college football," Finebaum said on ESPN's "Get Up". "There are so many other things going wrong with the sport, there are so many allegations being levied.

"Can you imagine on January 8th if Michigan wins the national championship and Jim Harbaugh is given that trophy? I think the rest of the sports world is going to turn its nose in disgust and that's a real issue."

Finebaum has long been a critic of Harbaugh, but he is right that the NCAA is going to find itself in a tricky situation if Michigan once again makes the CFP and wins it all this time.

If the cheating at Michigan has been as rampant as the reports suggest (and no, not everyone is doing it), how is anything Michigan wins from here on out valid?
