The college football season has turned its focus to the College Football Playoff.

As fans await the beginning of the College Football Playoff, where the top teams in the nation will compete for a national title, several programs have undergone big changes.

On Tuesday, one team in the SEC parted ways with a coach who held a major role on the staff.

The Texas Longhorns have parted ways with running backs coach Chad Scott.

Scott leaves Texas after just one season with the program, having accepted the job earlier this year, looking to help lead a talented group starring CJ Baxter.

After Texas headed into the season with high hopes from their running back unit, Chad Scott is set to leave the program and a former five-star running back has entered the transfer portal.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian will now be tasked with filling the running backs coach role.

It may seemingly be a highly regarded role given Sarkisian's offensive scheme and incoming recruiting class.

Before working with the Longhorns in 2025, Scott served as the running backs coach for the West Virginia Mountaineers. Scott also previously spent time at North Carolina, Kentucky, Troy and Texas Tech.

After making the College Football Playoff for two straight seasons, Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns are headed back to the drawing board, looking to win their first national title since 2005 under head coach Mack Brown.
