SEC Powerhouse Trending For 5-Star DL

JaReylan McCoy’s recruitment has taken an interesting turn, and a new frontrunner is emerging. The five-star defensive lineman, originally committed to the LSU Tigers before reopening his recruitment, recently canceled his planned visit to the Texas Longhorns. This unexpected move has fueled speculation about where he’s leaning.

All signs now point to the Florida Gators making the strongest push for McCoy, as the Gators have positioned themselves as the team to beat. The six-foot-seven, 245-pound standout has been trending toward Gainesville after taking an official visit on May 30, and instead of heading to Austin, he’s choosing to return to Florida for another visit this weekend.

ESPN has McCoy rated as a five-star prospect, highlighting his elite length, explosive movement skills, and dominant presence in the trenches. His ability to disrupt offenses and impose his will at the line of scrimmage has made him one of the most coveted defensive recruits in the 2026 class.

Florida’s defensive staff has made McCoy a top priority, and the Gators’ momentum has only grown since his visit last month. With Texas now out of the picture, LSU and Ole Miss remain in the mix, but Florida appears to be in the driver’s seat.

If the Gators can seal the deal, McCoy would be a massive addition to Billy Napier’s defensive front, further solidifying Florida’s push for one of the best recruiting classes in the country.

Archie Manning drops bombshell prediction on Texas QB grandson

Arch Manning is preparing for his first season as a starting quarterback in college, and already, his grandfather is predicting that he will return to Texas after the upcoming campaign. Manning's grandfather, of course, is former NFL quarterback and College Football Hall of Famer Archie Manning. Per an article from On3's Nick Schultz, Archie Manning told Texas Monthly that while he hasn't had conversations with his grandson about his future beyond the 2025 season, he believes that Arch Manning will be back with the Longhorns for the 2026 term. When asked if his grandson would declare for the 2026 NFL Draft after the upcoming season, Archie Manning said, "Arch isn’t going to do that. He’ll be at Texas." Of course, Archie Manning knows his grandson better than just about anyone. Yet, at the same time, should Arch Manning have a stellar year at Texas, it's entirely possible he could head to the 2026 NFL Draft. Arch Manning, the 6-foot-4, 219-pound redshirt sophomore from New Orleans, is one of the biggest stories in college football as the 2025 season inches closer. Manning saw limited duty in 2024 as a backup to Quinn Ewers, but when Ewers got injured, Manning went 2-0 as a starter and played well. In 2024, as Texas went 13-3 overall and reached the semifinal round of the College Football Playoff, Manning completed 67.8 percent of his passes for 939 yards with nine touchdowns and two interceptions. He also rushed for 108 yards and four scores on the ground. Earlier this week, the preseason Coaches Top-25 Poll placed Texas at No. 1, followed by defending national champion Ohio State at No. 2. In the 2025 season opener, the Longhorns will travel to Columbus to face the Buckeyes in what should prove a galactic matchup. Even though it's his first year as a starter, Manning is one of the early favorites to win the 2025 Heisman Trophy. He's landing on preseason lists as a first-team All-American. Manning is also getting buzz as one of the top picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. That's assuming Manning declares, which he is eligible for, given this will be his third season in college. Manning joined Texas after playing at Isidore Newman School in New Orleans. Within the 2023 class, multiple recruiting services rated the five-star Manning as the No. 1 national prospect, along with the No. 1 quarterback and the No. 1 player coming out of Louisiana. Should Manning lead Texas to a national championship this season, and he's projected as a top-five pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, it would be understandable if he departed the Longhorns for the pro ranks. Then again, maybe Manning loves being in college. Maybe he loves Austin, Texas. And he's earning big dollars in NIL.

Padres Officially Release Veteran After Disappointing Season

The San Diego Padres announced Wednesday that they released veteran catcher Martin Maldonado, who was designated for assigment last week. The writing was on the wall when the Padres acquired Freddy Fermin from the Kansas City Royals at last Thursday's trade deadline, upending their catching tandem. Fermin, 30, immediately got the opportunity to take the lion's share of innings behind the plate that he was never going to get in Kansas City. The Padres designated Maldonado for assignment in a corresponding roster move, ending the 38-year-old's tenure in San Diego. Maldonado hit .204 with four home runs and 12 RBIs in 64 games, splitting time with Elias Diaz. The 2019 American League Gold Glove Award winner, Maldonado has played 1,230 games for seven different organizations since his 2011 debut. Maldonado is a career .203/.277/.343 hitter with the Milwaukee Brewers (2011-16), Angels (2017-18), Houston Astros (2018-23), Royals (2019), Chicago Cubs (2019), Chicago White Sox (2024) and Padres (2025). More to come on this story from Padres on SI.

Palworld Studio Adds Another 'Exciting Game' to Its Growing List of Hits

Palworld Studio’s publishing division seems to have a knack for grabbing attention lately, and they’re not slowing down. The studio behind the highly anticipated monster-collecting survival game Palworld just announced they’ve signed yet another “very exciting game” to their lineup. And yes, we’re all ears—though we’re still trying to figure out how they balance releasing one banger after another without breaking a sweat. Their latest announcement follows hot on the heels of their impressive work backing a new horror game featuring talent tied to Baldur’s Gate 3 and Final Fantasy. It seems their publishing arm is becoming the go-to for delivering games that make players pause their beloved playthroughs and say, “Alright, fine, take my money.” What’s next, world domination? At this rate, we wouldn’t be surprised. Palworld’s Publishing Momentum is Unstoppable It’s no secret that Palworld itself has been a major talking point in the gaming sphere. This isn’t just your average monster-collecting game; it’s a delightfully chaotic mashup of Pokémon-like creature taming mixed with dystopian survival elements. And yes, you can wield guns while standing alongside your adorable (and potentially exploitable) pals. If that doesn’t scream absurd fun, what does? But what’s intriguing about Palworld Studio is how their publishing arm continues to expand with titles that don’t just ride on the coattails of Palworld’s buzz. Instead, they’re curating a diverse collection of innovative games that somehow scream “this is worth your time” even before you hit the download button. It’s becoming apparent that they’ve tapped into something most publishers can only dream of. From Horror to Hopeful Anticipation The recent horror game they helped bring to life is evidence of Palworld’s ability to pick winners. Featuring developers with experience on mammoth titles like Baldur’s Gate 3 and Final Fantasy, this game blurred the line between spine-tingling chills and jaw-dropping visuals. The kind of game that makes you want to leave the lights on, but also keeps you glued to the screen. This success wasn’t just a one-off. It proved that their publishing arm isn’t about quantity for the sake of it, but about finding games with real potential to connect with audiences. And now, with the news of their next “exciting game” signing, the studio is making it clear they’re not just a one-hit (Palworld) wonder. What Makes Palworld Studio Unique? What’s refreshing about the Studio is that they’re building a reputation not only for their own creations but also for their keen eye as a publisher. They’re choosing projects that feel distinct, well-crafted, and most importantly, fun. This combination of bold decision-making and a knack for gaming trends is likely why they’ve been so successful in catching the attention of hardcore gamers and casual players alike. While some publishers flood the market with games that feel like clones of one another, Palworld seems laser-focused on quality and originality. Whether it’s through survival horror or creature-collecting madness, they’re ensuring that each game they touch carves its own identity in the vast gaming landscape. What’s the Mystery Game? Of course, the identity of their latest “very exciting game” is still under wraps, and we’re left to speculate (read “obsessively refresh the news feed”) about what it could be. Is it another survival title? A new RPG with mind-blowing mechanics? Or perhaps something totally out of left field? The one thing we do know is that Palworld Studio has already proven its ability to deliver. Their track record alone is enough to keep gamers invested, and whatever this new project is, expectations are sky-high. No pressure, right? What Does the Future Hold for Palworld Studio? With Palworld still riding a tidal wave of hype and their publishing portfolio growing stronger with every announcement, it’s safe to say Palworld Studio has carved a spot for themselves as a major player in the industry. And if their next project lands as well as their previous efforts, they might just redefine everyone’s expectations for what a modern game studio and publisher can achieve. While we wait (impatiently) for their sensational mystery game to be revealed, all eyes are on Palworld. Will their unique blend of chaos and charm live up to the hype when it eventually drops? Judging by their track record, we’re willing to bet on it. Why Palworld Should Be On Your Radar If you haven’t been following the studio’s meteoric rise, you’re missing out. Whether it’s their quirky and ambitious Palworld or their growing list of well-crafted published games, everything this studio touches seems to turn into a hit. And with their latest announcement promising yet another gem on the horizon, there’s never been a better time to keep Palworld Studio on your radar (and your wishlist). Stay tuned, because if one thing’s clear about Palworld Studio, it’s that they’re just getting started.

Dream Dealt Unfortunate News on Brittney Griner on Thursday

Neck pain isn’t usually headline news, unless it belongs to Brittney Griner. Atlanta Dream fans hoping for another dominant night on Thursday just had their mood checked. Griner is officially out again, and suddenly that winning streak feels a little more fragile. The Dream hit the road to face the struggling Chicago Sky, a team sitting at 8-21 and already missing rookie standout Angel Reese. But while the Sky limp into Wintrust Arena, the Dream aren’t walking in at full strength either. On Wednesday, the team ruled out Griner for a third straight game due to her lingering neck injury. According to the WNBA’s official injury report, she’s still not ready for game action. Griner’s absence is a blow. The nine-time All-Star has been averaging 10.6 points and 5.6 boards while shooting over 51 percent from the field this season. She signed with Atlanta as a free agent this offseason, helping turn the Dream into a serious contender after last year’s playoff sneak-in. But with their star center on the bench again, the Dream will have to get creative, and gritty. Brionna Jones, Naz Hillmon Set to Step Up With Griner out, Atlanta is expected to lean on Brionna Jones and Naz Hillmon to carry the frontcourt load. Jones, another offseason addition, has already started taking on a bigger role. The team will need her presence inside to stretch the Sky’s defense and crash the boards. It’s not all gloom, though. Griner’s "doubtful" tag before last week’s Mercury game was the same story, and she’s reportedly getting closer to a return. But Atlanta’s not taking risks with their veteran star, and they shouldn't. Still, with Rhyne Howard also sidelined due to a knee issue, the Dream are down two primary weapons. That makes Thursday’s game less about comfort and more about character.
