South Carolina Gamecocks football coach Shane Beamer had an emotional day. He shared in a social media post that he may have made "too much noise" after getting big NCAA transfer portal news.
Beamer attended the South Carolina Men's Golf team's SEC championship game on April 23, and the team's social media account shared photos of his visit on X.
"Anybody know this guy???" they jokingly posted. "We appreciate the support today, @CoachSBeamer."
Beamer replied that the second picture was taken right after he got some really big news.
He wrote, "The 2nd pic is right after I got a GREAT phone call from @_iamgeorgejr!!!! Hope I didn’t make too much noise when he gave me some great news!!"
Beamer was referring to George Wilson Jr.'s decision to commit to the Gamecocks. Wilson reposted the message on his own account too.
Wilson had originally committed to the Gamecocks for 2021, but backed out and committed to Florida State, later transferring to Campbell, SI reported. He was a four-star prospect in 2021, and has made seven sacks and 34 tackles in the last two seasons. Wilson's commitment will add depth EDGE to South Carolina's team.
The news comes weeks after the Gamecocks signed Demon Clowney from the transfer portal.
Earlier this week, offensive tackle Kam Pringle announced that he was entering the NCAA transfer portal. Gamecocks quarterback LaNorris Sellers shared two crying emoji on Instagram in response to Pringle's news. Pringle replied, "love brother!"
Wilson has one year of eligibility remaining as he transfers to the Gamecocks..
