2025 NFL Draft Scouting Report and Film Analysis of East Carolina Cornerback Shavon Revel Jr.

Measurables:

Height- 6’2″

Weight- 194 lbs

Player Background:

Revel was a star athlete at Reynolds High School before transferring to Ronald W. Reagan High School for his senior year. He played both wide receiver and cornerback in high school and was also a standout track and field athlete. Revel started his college career at Louisburg College, where he played six games in 2021. He transferred to East Carolina in 2022 and contributed to the team mostly on special teams during his first year with the Pirates. Revel had a breakout season in 2023, starting all 12 games for East Carolina and earning Second Team All-American Athletic Conference honors with 13 pass deflections and two blocked field goals on the season. He tallied two interceptions in his first three games of the 2024 season before suffering a season-ending knee injury early in the season.

Strengths:

Revel is a lengthy corner with a rare blend of size, strength, and speed. He has an over 32-inch arm length and knows how to effectively use his length to reroute receivers and disrupt passing lanes. He pairs his length and size with elite speed. Revel is able to carry receivers vertically down the field and quickly recover when beaten early on a play. At his size, Revel is an incredibly fluid athlete with oily hips.

Revel is a fierce competitor who plays with an extremely high motor. He is physical in coverage and a strong press-man corner. In run support, Revel is a very willing tackler who has a big tackle radius, can consistently shed blockers, and likes to deliver big hits. Revel can also be a strong special-teams contributor and blocked two field goals during college.

Weaknesses:

Revel is an extremely raw prospect who lacks much experience and has not played against many highly ranked teams or power conference programs during his college career. He started just one full season at the FBS level and 15 total games during his college career. With his lack of experience, Revel has an inconsistent technique, and he will need to continue to refine his technique at the next level. He has inconsistent footwork and punch timing in press coverage.

Revel has solid ball skills, but if he improved his consistency at getting his head around and locating the football, he could increase his ball production even further at the next level. Revel also draws some penalties by being overly aggressive and grabby in coverage at times. He suffered a torn ACL during the 2024 season.

Potential Team Fits:

Green Bay Packers

Philadelphia Eagles

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Washington Commanders

NFL Projection:

Revel is a raw prospect but has one of the highest ceilings of any cornerback in this year’s draft class. Revel’s combination of height, length, speed, and overall athleticism is special. He still lacks a ton of experience at cornerback and will need to continue to refine his technique in the NFL. His elite recovery speed was enough to make up for a lot of technical inconsistencies in college, and that may not work quite as often in the NFL, but if he develops well, Revel has a ton of upside. He is a scheme-versatile prospect who has the potential to be both a high-level man-coverage and zone coverage corner in the NFL. He projects as a developmental starter who could have some growing pains early in his career, but if all goes well he has the potential to be a high-level CB1 for a team.

Prospect Grade:

Early Second Round
