Revel did not complete any athletic testing as he is still recovering from a torn ACL. However, his size and length metrics largely rank in the 80th percentile or better for the cornerback position.
Coming out of High School in North Carolina, Shavon Revel Jr. played quarterback, wide receiver, and cornerback. His sophomore season was cut short due to a devastating car accident. Shavon Sr. was behind the wheel and blacked out after being overcome by a coughing fit, crashing the car into a cement wall. Shavon Jr. and his two brothers were in the car, and all survived. However, Shavon Jr. suffered a fractured skull that required surgery in addition to a broken nose. He spent the next six months rehabbing from the injuries.
By the end of high school, Revel had no Division I offers because he was an academic non-qualifier. Forced to go the Junior College route, Revel enrolled at Louisburg College. He had limited opportunities on the field at Louisburg due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but he showed enough to get the coaches' attention at East Carolina. According to 247 Sports, Revel was a three-star transfer recruit and the #87 ranked transfer in 2022.
Revel started 15 games for the Pirates over the last three years, allowing a completion percentage of 43.8%. His 2024 season was cut short due to a torn ACL. Amongst 263 FBS cornerbacks with at least 500 snaps in 2023, Revel had the 40th-best overall PFF grade, the 29th-best coverage grade, and the 55th-best run defense grade. Additionally, he had the 15th-best forced incompletion rate of any qualifying cornerback in 2023.

✅ Big, long CB with smooth feet and impressive athletic traits
✅ Physical player who craves contact with a motor that runs hot

Before this season, Shavon Revel Jr. was viewed as a potential first-round pick. He was off to a great start, with two interceptions in three games before the torn ACL. However, the torn ACL happened, which cannot be ignored when analyzing a 24-year-old prospect at a position that relies heavily on athletic traits.
Revel has an ideal blend of size and speed for a defense that asks their corners to defend in a mix of vertical zones and man coverage. His physicality and high-effort playing style are easy to love. Revel excels in press coverage, disrupting routes early and competing aggressively at the catch point. However, Revel's technique is raw—he plays too upright, relies on his athletic traits to bail him out, and can be grabby in coverage. He also faces questions about his instincts in zone, ball skills, level of competition, durability, and age.
Revel would be enticing to plug into Dennis Allen's defense. The Bears' new defensive coordinator seeks out cornerbacks who excel in press coverage and tying up route combinations for his pass rush to get home. He wants aggressors on the outside who aren't afraid of a brawl. Revel is an ideal fit physically, but he is too risky for the 39th or 41st pick. If he is available at 72, the Bears could have difficulty passing on him. They could target him in a trade-down in the second round. With proper development, his aggression, athletic traits, and size could be a game-changer for the Bears. That is only with adequate development, though, as this type of prospect comes with too much risk to take in the top 50.
