Few rookies have as much to deal with when it comes to national attention than Shedeur Sanders. The Cleveland Browns' fifth-round pick and son of Deion "Primetime" Sanders has grown accustomed to the spotlight.
That can have its downside as he experienced during the draft when an expected first or second-round selection turned into a Day 3 stunner for the masses. Critics piled on the young quarterback after one of the most surprising slides in draft history.
While that craze and an odd prank call scandal involving his selection have subsided, the focus on his development has only gotten sharper. Sanders finds himself in a crowded quarterback room with three other players competing for positioning left in flux after Deshaun Watson's Achilles injury earlier this year.
Sanders' celebrity also paves the way for one seemingly minor thing to spiral into a much bigger matter. It appears that happened after a video posted to YouTube went viral.
In a video uploaded by Well Off Media, a green Rolls Royce was seen being delivered to the Sanders estate. Sanders' brother, Deion Jr. had him on FaceTime as they watched the car back into the driveway.
This led some to believe that the car belonged to the Browns' rookie. Being that the car would cost close to half of his rookie salary, people sounded off on Sanders.
He then responded a clip going viral on X, assuring the car was not his and that his focus is purely on winning.
Another lie…. I’m focused on my team not a car purchase ! https://t.co/yRK1lvpgR6

Sanders had a custom-wrapped Rolls Royce during his time at Colorado, so there is an easy connection to be drawn there. From his side, Sanders has posited his interest in keeping the dialogue around him strictly on football.
The rookie does have a ways to go in terms of his actual on-the-field prospects since he is technically QB4 in Cleveland. To change that positioning on the depth chart, he will not only need to prove it between the white lines, but also show the Browns a pattern of maturity in his personal life.
That journey continues Tuesday with the Browns officially beginning OTAs.
