Shedeur Sanders' stock is sinking faster than the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
ESPN's NFL insider Adam Schefter believes that while Sanders stock is tanking, it opens up the greater possibility the Browns lean towards Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter with that first-round pick.
Schefter went on "Get Up" on Thursday and proclaimed the Browns are "moving off"" of Sanders with the second pick, despite their need for a big-time signal caller. Apparently, the Browns don't think Sanders is big-time.
"It feels like ownership has even spent a lot of time with Abdul Carter," Schefter said. "It feels like, more and more, Abdul Carter could be paired opposite Myles Garrett to give the Browns the most feared pass-rushing tandem in the National Football League."
Schefter went one step farther and proclaimed the New York Giants, who have the third pick in the first round, will also leave Sanders unclaimed. They are tending to lean towards Sanders' teammate at Colorado, two-way star Travis Hunter. The Giants will be in Colorado on Friday for the Colorado Showcase, a/k/a Pro Day.
"It feels more and more like Cam Ward one, Abdul Carter two, maybe Travis Hunter three," Schefter claimed. "But again, three weeks to go, and a lot can change in those weeks."
Schefter believes the Giants' mentality is to take the best player available with that third pick. It definitely is not Sanders, who could fall out of the first round. If he falls past the New Orleans Saints at No. 9, it could be a big fall from grace for Deion's son.
"I don't know if there's a team out there that's spent any more time scouting, digging into, being around Shedeur Sanders this year than the New York Giants," Schefter said. "They know everything that they need to know, good and bad, about Shedeur Sanders."
Our view? Sanders will be a decent pro quarterback, but he does not carry a draft value equivalent to the teams picks that are starving for a quarterback. Teams would have to reach for Sanders and it does not appear as though they are going to do that.
