Shedeur Sanders, son of NFL Hall-of-Famer Deion Sanders, was already a notable figure in college with the Colorado Buffaloes, but his rumored antics during the pre-draft process just grew his legend even further.
Once a projected first-round pick, there was reports that Sanders made a mockery of his team interviews, playing music and ignoring questions, which allegedly led to his controversial slide.
The Cleveland Browns finally ended his wait in the fifth round and he quickly got to work, showing teams why they made a mistake passing on him multiple times.
Sanders was arguably the best quarterback throughout the duration of a training camp that saw him competing for the starting job, and passed his first preseason test with flying colors.
Unfortunately, injuries caused him to lag behind in the competition and a horrendous day as the team’s third quarterback in the final preseason game was the nail in the coffin. The college star is still on the roster, but it was announced that he will be the Browns’ emergency quarterback behind Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel this season.
It’s obviously disappointing news for a guy expected to be selected at the top of the first round just days before the draft, but Sanders finally spoke out about the decision and had an interesting take on it.
GOD doesn’t make mistakes. When you realize that everything happens for a reason, you’ll find peace in your situation.”

This may not seem like much, but whenever Sanders tweets about his religion, it’s usually not more than a few words. That makes it painfully obvious that this message is about Cleveland, but it should go a long way towards mending his reputation.
Sanders seemed to be universally loved when he played at Jackson State before his move to the Buffaloes. But being put on a bigger stage allowed for his personality to shine through more, and people didn’t like what they saw and heard.
The rookie quarterback went viral almost every week for his flashy celebrations, trash talk to opponents and public criticisms of teammates. Now in the NFL, Sanders has done all the right things to change the narrative around his name, including tweets like this.
The statement serves as a reminder that not every media portrayal is accurate and that we don’t really know these athletes. Things could not have gone more poorly for Sanders over the last few months, but he continues to take the punches on the chin and smile, shedding the narrative of being cocky and immature.
