Shedeur Sanders throwing his teammates under the bus

While I was going to give the field departure a pass, Shedeur’s postgame press conference changed everything in my eyes. When asked about the interception he threw, which was returned for a touchdown, he blamed freshman wide receiver Drelon Miller for his “rookie mistake” instead of just taking the blame as every veteran quarterback should and has since the invention of football. Shedeur then continued to throw his teammates under-the-bus by doubling down on the blame game. His offensive line was the target this time:

In about 15 seconds Shedeur managed to crush his offensive line's ability to both pass protect and run block. Was he wrong? No, not at all. Should he say it during a press conference after week two of a 12 week season? Definitely not. While his offensive line has been inefficient through two games, they are also the only players who are on the field to protect him. Personally, I don’t think I’d publicly shame the players who are tasked to protect me.

But Shedeur doesn’t know any better because he has watched and heard his father do the same for years. So instead of taking the blame, or if nothing else, at least not point fingers at teammates, Shedeur made the wrong decision.
