Shemar Stewart had his way against NFL draftee of Bengals' AFC North rival while practicing at 2025 Senior Bowl

The Cincinnati Bengals knew who Shemar Stewart was prior to the 2025 Senior Bowl, but watching him string together quality reps in Mobile, Alabama was another factor in his overall evaluation.

"He wreaked havoc all week there," Bengals director of college scouting Mike Potts said of Stewart on Locked on Bengals. "I guess you could probably say he had more sacks there than than he did this year on his on his college tape."

One of those sacks came against now former LSU right tackle Emery Jones Jr. The play was blown dead, of course, before Stewart could take down the quarterback, but all that mattered was him beating Jones cleanly around the edge.

The kicker? Stewart and Jones will see each other twice a year as the former went to Cincinnati and the latter got drafted by the Baltimore Ravens.

Stewart and Jones met on the field prior to the Senior Bowl. The two played against each other in a few SEC battles between Stewart's Texas A&M Aggies and Jones' LSU Tigers. The Ravens drafted Jones 74 picks after Stewart heard his name called as the Bengals' first-round pick, so they'll prolong their history against one another at the next level.

And if Cincinnati correctly utilizes Stewart's potential, he'll be placed in one-on-one situations like the clip above showcases.

"It's not like. . .it's not in his body or within the realm of his abilities to get sacks at the next level," Potts said. "It's going to be our coach's job to work with him and do it and I think we've got a good plan in place to, to get that accomplished."

Stewart may not start for the Bengals immediately, but he'll be involved in a rotation of defensive ends at the very least. Jones will likely start out as a backup offensive tackle, so we may not see the two face off for some time.

When the next time comes, the Bengals will expect history to repeat itself.
