Sherrone Moore raves about character of Blake Corum
Junfu Han / USA TODAY NETWORK

Blake Corum can do more than run over defenders. During an appearance at the NFL Combine, Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore praised the All-American running back.

“He’s elite in every way. First off, as a football player, the film speaks for itself,” Moore said. “Contact, balance, strength, breakaway speed, short-yardage back, pass protection. All the things you want – make a big play, take over a game.”

Corum took over no shortage of games this season, including the national championship. In Michigan’s 43-13 victory over Michigan, the senior back tallied 21 carries for a game-high 134 yards and two touchdowns.

Corum’s final collegiate performance was only one highlight in a jaw-dropping career. In four seasons at Michigan, Corum amassed 3,737 yards and 58 touchdowns on the ground. He also hauled in 411 receiving yards and three scores.

Moore claims Corum brings more than backfield talent to a team.

“Off the field, he’s a tremendous leader, a tremendous ambassador for the community, person,” Moore said. “He’s somebody that if your daughter came home with him, you’re like, ‘OK, we’re good.’

“I have two daughters, and I always say like if they came home with a Blake Corum-type of person, I’d be super happy. He’s an outstanding individual and obviously, one of the captains and a Michigan legend.”

How Blake Corum wants to be remembered

Corum wants to be remembered as nothing less. After Michigan brought home the national title, he reflected on how we wants to be remembered.

“The way I want to be remembered is as a Michigan man,” Corum said after the championship win. “Someone who did good on the field but also did good in the community, did good in the classroom and laid a foundation for the next generation.

“When I pass away, I honestly don’t want to be remembered for a touchdown record or anything like that, but more so just a kind human being that brought smiles to people’s faces and just made a difference, made an impact on and off the field. That’s honestly how I want to be remembered.”

Now, Corum will have an opportunity to add to his legacy. The 2024 NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Michigan, with the first round on Thursday, April 25, the second and third rounds on Friday, April 26, and the fourth through seventh rounds on Saturday, April 27.

Corum will have the opportunity to solidify his draft stock at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, which will last until March 4. The massive event will continue to be broadcast throughout the weekend on ESPN and NFL Network.
