Despite Deuce Knight being an Auburn commitment, the talented quarterback should not be considered a lock to sign with the Tigers.
His unofficial visit to Ole Miss for the Georgia game presents a prime reason why. Storming the field with Ole Miss recruits and fans, Knight’s trip to the Grove is also 25 days before National Signing Day on Dec. 4.

Committed recruits take visits all the time. However, there’s a difference with this particular recruiting visit because of timing. Committed recruits taking trips to other programs is the era of recruiting everyone resides, but just over three weeks from officially becoming a Tiger is different. He’s not immune to changing his college decision either.
After all, Rivals’ No. 32 player regardless of position and No. 2 quarterback is just over a month removed from decommitting from Notre Dame and joining the Auburn fold. Visiting Ole Miss, as he’s done several times before, should be considered a red flag. Here’s another reason to raise an eyebrow.
It’s one thing for Knight to visit multiple schools during the process but he’s now the face of the Tigers’ recruiting class and future signal-caller. Considering how intelligent Knight is, there is no reason to believe he’s not aware of that fact. One should believe he is at least considering signing with Ole Miss from that point alone. Now the true recruiting battle begins.
Hugh Freeze and his coaching staff must get him back to Auburn and fast. Fortunately, there’s a great opportunity directly ahead.
Auburn has a Nov. 16 home game versus Louisiana-Monroe. Follow the visits; that’s how to determine a recruit’s interest above all else. If Knight makes that trip, and that’s a big if, Auburn should feel better about its chances of signing him. It would be even better if Knight also takes an unofficial for the last home game on Nov. 23 versus Texas A&M.
It’s still not going to be easy.
It’s no secret that Lane Kiffin covets the gifted prospect. It’s not surprising considering Knight is a dual-threat quarterback who fits into Kiffin’s run-pass option scheme well. Kiffin will not give up on signing Knight, especially with the Rebels not having a passer within their 2025 recruiting class. However, freshman Austin Simmons looked spectacular in relief duty of Jaxson Dart against the Bulldogs.
The Rebels have home cooking working for them as well.
Coming from Lucedale (Miss.) George County, he’s an in-state prospect for the Rebels. There will be locals in his ear about staying home and playing in a powdered blue uniform. The NIL money will be there for Knight just like it is at Auburn, too. Indeed, Ole Miss is a threat to sign Knight.
The next move will be crucial. Does Knight come back to Auburn for the Louisiana-Monroe game? If not, the chances of Knight not signing with Auburn increases.

Reed finished the season with 1,864 yards and 15 touchdowns compared to six interceptions. He also rushed for 547 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. There are extremely high expectations for Reed heading into 2025 and this offseason, he put in some work to do everything he can to live up to them. One of the things he did was go to the Manning Passing Academy to learn from Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning. What did Manning teach him? The Super Bowl-winning QB was always known as a tactician and a student of the game, and he revealed to those in attendance that intense film study can be the difference between being good and great. “Peyton (Manning) really talked about watching film and how he did it, different things he would look at. That’s something I’m going to take into 2025, for sure,” Reed recently told the media (h/t On3). “There’s levels to it. Last year, I was prepared. I watched film, but there’s another level I can take it to.” If Reed is able to take it to the next level in 2025, he very well could end up being one of the best quarterbacks in the country and even a Heisman Trophy contender. His game is much different than Manning's was, but if he's able to gleam some wisdom from the legend, he'll be all the better for it. Reed will get a chance to make a statement early on in the season when Texas A M takes on Notre Dame in South Bend on Sept. 13. Before that are home games, for the Aggies, against UTSA (Aug. 30) and Utah State (Sept. 6).

That comment shows just how wide the interest is for this level of goalie talent (Heavy.com). I think this kind of trade would completely shift the balance of power in the West, making Edmonton even more dangerous for teams like Dallas, who could end up facing a vastly upgraded Oilers team in the playoffs. If Boston truly embraces a rebuild, moving their top goaltender could be the first domino in a massive roster overhaul, something that could shake the market for weeks.
Ben Roethlisberger Sends Serious Warning About Steelers' Broderick Jones
The 2025 season will be a crucial one for the Pittsburgh Steelers and all of the decision-makers that completely revamped the roster during the offseason. The depth chart looks much different than it did back in 2024, so there will be several adjustments that need to be made. One positional group that looks relatively similar, but has been affected by some reshuffling, is the offensive line. Troy Fautanu is back after an injury-plagued rookie campaign, and Broderick Jones will finally get to play left tackle on a consistent basis for the first time in his professional career. Jones is, without a doubt, one of the most important players in the entire projected starting lineup. Keeping Aaron Rodgers upright will be crucial, and the third-year lineman has not necessarily proven that he can be trusted. He suffered an injury to begin training camp, but is reportedly going to be just fine and return to the field sooner rather than later. No one knows how important it is to have a strong offensive line more than future Hall of Fame quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger. The Steelers' legendary signal-caller never got to play with Jones, but he keeps tabs on the team and shares his thoughts often on his podcast, Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger. On the most recent episode, he highlighted how critical it is so have a good group up front blocking, and he mentioned Jones by name. "I would probably start, as I do a lot of times, about the importance of the offensive line," Roethlisberger began. "I'd say that's the biggest question, and it should be because to me, the line is always the MVP. The way the line plays, run game, pass game, everything revolves around that. More specifically, Broderick Jones, moving now back to left tackle." Training camp hasn't gotten off to a great start for Jones with the injury, but some may be happy that he lost some weight during the 2025 offseason. Roethlisberger said he understands why, but is still concerned. "I've heard he's thinned down, which is good to a certain extent, right," Roethlisberger said. "They want to work on getting tackles out and running the outside zones and stretch plays. So, you got to be a little, you know, more agile, but you know, you also don't want to be too small when you're supposed to be a tackle. So, that's always going to be a concern of mine, is him and the line in general staying healthy." There are some massive edge rushers in the NFL, and Roethlisberger is right in saying that being too small as a tackle can be problematic. Jones will have to go up against Myles Garrett twice in 2025, and the offseason weight loss won't look like a good thing if he is manhandled throughout those matchups. The Steelers' offensive line might be the unit that makes or breaks the team's season. Staying healthy will be the number one priority, but it is almost imperative that the group actually is successful. If edge rushers are constantly bulldozing through Jones, it could be serious cause for concern. It seems as if that it what Roethlisberger has some reservations about. If Jones doesn't perform at a high level in 2025, the 2023 NFL Draft day trade-up in the first round will be looked at as a failure. The organization has to make a decision on Jones' fifth-year option during the 2026 offseason, so the left tackle better hope that some of the weight he had shed ends up helping him significantly, instead of the other way around. Steelers Will Need Entire Offensive Line To Be Elite In 2025 While Jones is going to be the number one scapegoat if things go south, the big men up front will be a huge part of Pittsburgh's offensive failures or successes as the season progresses. Roethlisberger's comments regarding the starting left tackle's offseason will certainly cause a little bit of worry, but the unit as a whole has to prove consistency when the games matter.
Report: Bengals draw hard line in Trey Hendrickson contract talks
Cincinnati Bengals star defensive end Trey Hendrickson has been holding out from training camp as he seeks a new contract, and it does not sound like the two sides are all that close to a deal. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler said on "SportsCenter" Monday that there has been "some progress" in negotiations between the Bengals and Hendrickson's representatives over the past week or so. The real disagreement has to do with guaranteed money, and Cincinnati's brass is not budging. "Hendrickson wants a stronger guaranteed structure, particularly later in what should be a multiyear deal. In talking to people with the Bengals they feel like, 'Hey, we've probably relented as far as we can go.' So this is a classic stare-off right now, and it's time to buckle up," Fowler said, via Andrew Peters of Bleacher Report. Hendrickson is set to earn $16M in base salary in the final year of his contract this season. He recently said he has shown a willingness to take less than market value on a new deal, but the Bengals do not want to guarantee him money beyond the 2026 season. Based on what he has said, the 30-year-old Hendrickson is not seeking to become the highest-paid defensive player in football. In order to accomplish that, he would have to top the three-year, $123M extension T.J. Watt signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers last week. Hendrickson had 35 sacks over the past two seasons, which was the most in the NFL during that span. He had 17.5 sacks each season and finished second in NFL Defensive Player of the Year voting in 2024. The Bengals took care of one major offseason issue on Sunday when they finally signed first-round pick Shemar Stewart to a rookie deal. All it will take is one side to budge in the team's ongoing stalemate with Hendrickson, but all parties seem to be dug in as training camp rolls on.
