PITTSBURGH — Practice No. 14 took place on the South Side Friday morning and the intrigue is heightening around the starting quarterback job between redshirt junior Nate Yarnell and redshirt freshman Alabama transfer Eli Holstein.

Before Thursday’s practice, Narduzzi expressed how he loves the current quarterback battle with Yarnell still the No. 1 option as of now. However, Narduzzi said that the starting quarterback for Kent State is still to be determined.

That sets up a critical second scrimmage that will take place on Sunday at Acrisure Stadium. Come Tuesday, there’s a chance that Narduzzi and offensive coordinator Kade Bell could solidify who will take the starting snaps with Kent State just two weekends out.

Yarnell and Holstein have been side-by-side throughout fall camp, working on their accuracy and connections with the wide receivers and running backs.
