Son of NFL Great Sparks Buzz With Visit to Arizona State Ahead of Commitment
© Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

In a short period, the Arizona State football program has become the ultimate destination for player development at the college level. Talented high school players looking to take their game to the next level are looking to the desert oasis of Tempe as the potential answer to their future pro football dreams.

One player who has the Sun Devils on his narrowed list of potential college destinations is local star wide receiver Devin Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald is the son of Larry, a former NFL veteran with the Cardinals. The bloodlines and pedigree are there.

Fitzgerald has a bulls-eye on his back, put there by Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham and wide receivers coach Hines Ward. Who better for Fitzgerald to learn how to play the position at an elite level than from coach Ward?

A star at Brophy College Preparatory in Phoenix, Arizona, Fitzgerald hauled in 52 catches for over 700 yards and nine TDs. Fitzgerald has narrowed his choice of college destination to these schools: Arizona State, UCLA, Clemson, Stanford, Notre Dame and North Carolina. He will let his choice be known on July 5th.

Playing in front of the home crowd could be a big factor in Fitzgerald staying home and playing for the Sun Devils. Dillingham is pulling out all the stops to bring the talented Fitzgerald to Tempe.
