Sooners in the NFL: Week Two
USA TODAY Sports

Oklahoma’s NFL stars dominated the day on Sunday. It was Baker Mayfield who put on a show, leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a 2-0 start behind a near perfect day. You can read about his full performance here.

But it was the wide receivers that carried Sooners in the NFL in a big way week two. Oklahoma has become a pass catching pipeline to the NFL and it was on full display this weekend.

Ceedee Lamb has turned into one of the best receivers in the league and proved it again on Sunday, torching the Jets in a 30-10 Dallas win. No. 88 reeled in 11 catches for 143 yards on 13 targets. Lamb was kept out of the endzone but his impact on the game was undeniable. The 11 receptions tied a career-high, and he’s now at 220 total receiving yards through two games.

Despite Kyler Murray’s absence, Hollywood Brown continues to find a way to make an impact. The Cardinals lost in crushing fashion, blowing a 28-7 lead to the Giants at home, but Brown was still a star. He finished the afternoon with six catches for 54 yards and a touchdown.

The Broncos fell short despite last minute heroics, but Marvin Mims Jr. found the endzone on a deep bomb from Russell Wilson. The rookie wide receiver turned in one of the best performances of the day — and didn’t need many touches to do it. He made the most of his two targets, catching both of them for 113 yards and a touchdown. His score came on a 60-yard connection down field that looked eerily reminiscent of his Oklahoma days.

Sterling Shepard wasn’t able to make a big impact but snagged his first catch of the season in New York, which is a big deal considering the injuries he has battled the last few seasons.

Mark Andrews got in on the action too, catching five passes for 45 yards and a touchdown. He was inactive a week ago, and his presence made all the difference in the world for the Ravens. When healthy, he’s still clearly one of the best tight ends in the league.

In other highlights around the league, Tre Brown is no wide receiver but he still caught a touchdown pass. The former Oklahoma cornerback picked off Jared Goff and returned it 40 yards for the touchdown.
