Sooners just sent an offer to 2027 recruit who has the potential to have the best nickname in college football
STEVE SISNEY / USA TODAY NETWORK

With Brent Venables at the helm of the Oklahoma Sooners football program, they will continue to recruit the defensive side of the ball at an elite level. And, they will continue to recruit the defensive line at an elite level, especially.

But let's not forget the history that offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh has. He recruits the offensive line better than anyone when you cover his entire history coaching the position.

We still don't even know what the 2026 class will look like, as there are currently only seven commits. But, it's obvious the Sooners are still getting ready for the 2027 class by sending out offers, some of them to elite offensive line prospects, guys who really are nowhere near developed into even their final form of high school football.

But, this group sees something in some of these kids, especially one who could really have an elite nickname in college football.

Sooners send offer to 2027 OL Jayden Dean

Jayden Dean is a high school football player from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and a top prospect in the class of 2027. At 6’2” and 265 pounds, he’s a powerful interior offensive lineman, excelling as a guard or center. Rivals ranks him as a four-star recruit, No. 118 nationally, No. 12 in Florida, and No. 4 among interior offensive linemen in his class.

Dean’s strength and agility make him stand out on the field, especially when you look at those two attributes for the size and position he is. He has been dominating defenders in the run game and protecting his quarterback against blitzes extremely well the last year but still has another few years to prove himself.

Playing for a top program like St. Thomas Aquinas, known for producing NFL talent, he benefits from excellent coaching and tough competition, because they not only have some of the best players in the country, but they play some of the best players in the country. Over 31 college programs, including Michigan, Ole Miss, Florida Atlantic, and Colorado, are recruiting him, and now Oklahoma is in the mix, sending him an offer earlier this week.

Think about Dean getting a pancake block, and the color or play-by-play guy on the TV broadcast yelling "The Dean expelling the defender," or something of that ilk. Man, he really has the potential to have one of the best nicknames in college football.
