Sophomore safety Phillip Dunnam will not be returning to Indiana football after entering the transfer portal.

Dunnam originally posted on X/Twitter that he would be returning to Bloomington, but that is not the case as sources confirmed to HoosierIllustrated.com.

The 6-foot-1 190-pound defensive back played sparingly as a freshman but burst onto the scene in 2023 where he established himself as a difference-maker on the back end of the Indiana defense.

Dunnam led Indiana football in both interceptions (3) and pass breakups (6). He also had the fourth most tackles on the Indiana defense with 53 in 12 games in 2o23.

The Florida native originally committed to the Hoosiers during the summer of 2021, choosing Indiana football over Florida State, Appalachian State, Central Michigan and other schools.

Dunnam will now find a new home after spending his first two seasons with Indiana. He has two years of eligibility remaining and will likely play a big role wherever he ends up in 2024.
