Heading into the 2023 season, there were major concerns about Stanford's secondary.
They had lost their entire starting secondary from last season to the transfer portal or NFL, and had even lost a majority of the reserves in the two-deep to the portal as well. While new head coach Troy Taylor was able to bring in three defensive back recruits, he badly wanted to somehow get more experienced. Especially when you consider the level of passing attacks that Stanford was poised to face in 2023.
Luckily for him, fifth-year senior Zahran Manley who was not with the team in 2022 was able to return for the Cardinal with 17 games and a handful of starts under his belt. He was an immediate starter for Stanford this season and was tied for the team's lead in interceptions with two. He took to Instagram on Tuesday to reveal that he will be returning for his sixth-year.

He will be joining linebacker Tristain Sinclair as leaders on the defense who will be returning for a sixth season, which should only help expedite the rebuild for the Cardinal.
