The spring window for the college football transfer portal is on the verge of opening on April 16. Despite not technically being open, college football rumors are already swirling about players who plan to enter the portal in the coming days.

One Big 12 program is in danger of losing a quarterback who was expected to compete to retain the starting role. As UCF Knights head coach Scott Frost returns to Orlando, Fla., it appears Dylan Rizk does not like his chances to keep his status as QB1 during the ongoing competition.

On3's Pete Nakos reported on Wednesday that Rizk intends to enter the transfer portal.

The news comes as UCF has a crowded quarterback room with Indiana Hoosiers transfer Tayven Jackson headlining the group. Former FAU signal-caller Cam Fancher also joined UCF following Frost's return to the Knights.

Less than 24 hours after Nakos' report, Rizk was absent from UCF's spring practice, per the Sons of UCF. The Knights cycled through quarterbacks under former head coach Gus Malzahn in 2024.

After KJ Jefferson underwhelmed to start the season, Malzahn eventually turned to Rizk following Jacurri Brown's failed attempt to take hold of the gig. Rizk started four games for the Knights and closed the season as the starter.

The signal-caller threw for 904 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions while completing 61.5% of his passes in 2024. Rizk's likely departure indicates Jackson has emerged as a potential favorite to be UCF's new starting quarterback in 2025.
