Back on May 10th, 2026 five-star Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon defensive end Richard Wesley made a viral pledge to the Oregon Ducks . The video centered around Wesley announcing his decision to commit to Oregon, and doing so alongside Ducks head coach Dan Lanning jumping into a pool during a visit. That commitment was quite the spectacle.

After the decision, news had come out that the Wesley family was not too fond on the decision from the talented pass rusher. It wasn’t so much about Wesley’s decision for Oregon, but the timing of it all. The family wanted him to let the process play out, and not cut things short.

While the 6-5, 250-pound defender is still committed to the Ducks, his process will continue on. He has set up several official visits already, included to Texas on June 20-22. That comes a couple of weeks after his official return to Oregon on June 6-8 as a commit. Wesley will also be taking visits to both Ohio State and Texas A&M.

Originally a member of the 2027 recruiting class, Wesley made the decision to reclassify to the 2026 class after this past season. During that campaign, the dynamic defensive end managed to collect 44 total tackles, 16 tackles for loss, and nine sacks. Wesley also posted another eight quarterback hurries and three forced fumbles.

The California native is considered a near consensus five-star recruiting for the 2026 class. The 247Sports Composite ranking currently has him rated as the No. 14 overall player, No. 2 EDGE, and No. 3 player in the state of California in the class. The On3 Industry ranking also has Wesley rated as a five-star player, currently sitting as the No. 25 overall player and No. 4 EDGE nationally.

A long list of impressive programs have pursued Wesley heavily. Some of the top offers for Wesley include Oregon, Georgia, Ohio State, Texas, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Ole Miss, USC, UCLA, Texas A&M, Miami, Florida State, Arizona State, Nebraska, UNC, Washington, Washington State, Minnesota, SMU, and Cal among others.
