Steve Sarkisian Reacts to Historic Texas News

Undoubtedly, the Texas Longhorns, led by head coach Steve Sarkisian, had a very talented roster in 2024, which helped them go 13-3 and even advance to the College Football Playoff semifinals as the No. 5 seed, eventually losing to No. 8 Ohio State.

That's also showcased by the fact that they had 12 players taken in the 2025 NFL Draft, which ended up being the third most of any team, behind the Buckeyes (14) and Georgia (13).

However, for as much success as they had on the field, it was followed up in the classroom, as the Longhorns revealed that their 3.31 GPA during the spring semester set a new program record.

It's, of course, an exciting feat, and it even drew a reaction from Sarkisian, who wrote, "Who you are some of the time, is who you are all of the time! #toughallday."

What's even more impressive about this accomplishment is that it breaks the previous team record that was just set during the fall semester, where they put together a cumulative GPA of 3.27.

There's no doubt that the program's academics have come a long way, as Sarkisian had previously revealed after getting hired in January of 2021, the average GPA of the following spring semester was a 2.33.

They are now getting ready to enter the 2025 season, with a highly anticipated first matchup where they hit the road to face off against Ohio State on Aug. 30, where they are already three-point underdogs.

Of course, Texas and Sarkisian have the chance to set an early tone for a season with a lot of expectations, as ESPN BET gives them the best odds of winning the SEC (+225) and tied for the best odds of winning the national championship (+500).
