Sun Devils Coach Kenny Dillingham 'Uncomfortable' With Preseason Hype

The Arizona State Sun Devils will have a bulls-eye on their back in college football in 2025-no more banishment to the cellar of the Big 12 Conference. ASU has received a ton of recognition and numerous accolades this offseason.

Sun Devils coach Kenny Dillingham cringes at the very thought that his team is looked upon, not as an underdog, but as a championship contender.

In 2024, Dillingham, like a mad scientist, emerged from the damp and dark Big 12 cellar after a 12-month sentence, in control of a monster football program.

Arizona State rolled to 11 victories last season. A skillful offense, triggered by quarterback Sam Leavitt, a bull in a china shop in running back Cam Skattebo, and sleek receiver Jordyn Tyson, led ASU to a Big 12 crown and a playoff appearance.

In 2025, Leavitt, Tyson and 16 other returning starters are ready to repeat their historic 2024 campaign. Whether Dillingham likes it or not, the Sun Devils are the brightest star in the college football galaxy.

No coaching defections, no player transfers. Just a band of gridiron brothers who love the game of football, their team and the State of Arizona.

The culture that Dillingham has built and the attitude around the Sun Devils football program are so profound and palpable that everyone wants to experience it for themselves.

Rest assured, the national media has learned its lesson from a season ago. The Sun Devils will most certainly be the favorites to win another Big 12 title in 2025. And Dillingham is uncomfortable with that, even as he flashes a devilish smile.
