Shedeur Sanders is considered to be one of the best quarterbacks in the class of 2025. In fact, there was a time when he was projected to be a top-five pick in the NFL Draft. However, the recent negative comments appear to be affecting the perception of him around league circles.
The son of NFL legend Deion Sanders has found himself on the receiving end of heavy criticism even months before the draft. Following the NFL scouting combine, insider Josina Anderson reported that a "quarterbacks coach from a team drafting in the top 7 referred to Shedeur Sanders as coming off 'brash' and 'arrogant.'"
Furthermore, Todd McShay of The Ringer previously reported that a couple of people who interviewed the Colorado Buffaloes QB got the impression that he "was not overly concerned with what they thought of him."
Now, ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, the negative comments on Sanders continue to mount. In a report by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network just days before the rookie selection, he mentioned a longtime assistant coach who called Sanders "entitled" and someone who "blames teammates."
An AFC executive also expressed disappointment with Sanders' attitude during their interview, saying, "He makes you feel small."
After hearing all the comments about Shedeur Sanders, though, former NFL safety and one-time Super Bowl champion Ryan Clark blasted the "media coverage" on the young QB and how it felt "extremely purposeful & personal."
"The anonymous quotes that have circulated are mostly negative," Clark shared. "Which is strange. A young man that has never been in trouble, never involved in an off field incident, & quarterbacked two Universities to a resurgence has 0 behind the scenes qualities?"
Clark pointed out that "there have been other quarterbacks with true issues that haven’t been subjected to this sort of pre-draft slander."
"If he falls out of the first round because execs & coaches don’t believe he has the physical tools then that’s fair… but let’s stop with the anonymous, unchecked personal attacks because they bring people to your page," he further stated.

It remains to be seen where Sanders will end up in the draft. Regardless of what happens and what his critics say, though, he has a strong supporter in Clark.
