The Wisconsin Badgers‘ 2026 class has taken another hit as a long time commitment announced he would reopen his recruitment. Aden Reeder, a three-star St. Xavier (OH) linebacker, will hit the market once again after decommitting from Wisconsin in the midst of multiple programs pursuing the recruit.
Reeder, who committed to Wisconsin back in May, had been a long-term commitment for the Badgers before a combination of factors changed his recruitment. The linebacker received a scholarship offer from the Michigan Wolverines’ staff on October 21st. Reeder was in Ann Arbor this past weekend for an official visit after quickly booking one with the Wolverines.
Nebraska, Kentucky, and Northwestern all offered the linebacker a scholarship in October as well in the midst of the Badgers’ on-field decline. Iowa, Minnesota, and Virginia are other notable programs that have extended a scholarship offer to Reeder in the past.
Indiana is a program that offered Reeder a scholarship in the past during the first round of his recruitment. Now, the Hoosiers are considered to be a team that could make a run at the recruit in an effort to land a commitment. The Hoosiers are the second-ranked team in college football at the moment and the momentum on the field could be what draws the linebacker in.
Between Michigan and Indiana, one thing is for certain moving forward regarding the recruitment of Reeder; Wisconsin is not in play any longer. Wisconsin will need to focus on improving the product on the field as recruiting may have to sit on the back burner. If Wisconsin cannot improve on the field, more recruits may join Reeder.
The linebacker is now the fifth decommitment Wisconsin has had this season, joining Zachary Taylor, Carmelow Reed, Tayshon Bardo, and Jarin Mock.

The timing of the decommitment is unfortunate for Wisconsin. Athletic Director Chris McIntosh had a call last week with the 2026 Badgers’ recruiting class and spoke with the commitments about the future of the program and Coach Luke Fickell.
On the field, the Badgers are currently one of the worst teams in the Big Ten Conference this season with three touchdowns in five conference games. Wisconsin is 2-6 with Washington, Indiana, Illinois, and Minnesota left on the schedule.
The Huskies are 11.5-point favorites over Wisconsin in Madison this week which could spell out further disaster. Wisconsin lost by a combined 71 points in back-to-back scoreless losses to Iowa and Ohio State. The losses were difficult to watch due to the struggles the Badgers’ offense has faced, and the home crowd vanished before the end of regulation each game. Another loss where Badgers’ fans are outnumbered would not be a good look for Fickell and company.
