TCU Football to Play USC in Alamo Bowl

The TCU Horned Frogs are headed to the Alamo Bowl later this month to take on the USC Trojans, according to On3’s Brett McMurphy.

The game is set for Tuesday, December 30th, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

TCU is coming off an 8-4 season under Sonny Dykes, good for a ninth-place finish in the Big 12. In his fourth season with the program, Dykes’ squad struggled. The offense showed signs of elite movement at times, but would stall out against key opponents. The Horned Frogs took down Colorado, West Virginia, Baylor, No. 21 Houston, and Cincinnati in conference play to earn the opportunity to face the Trojans.

Meantime, USC is fresh off a fourth-place finish in the Big Ten with an overall record of 9-3. The Trojans took care of business admirably during the year, and even finished the season off at No. 16. Their issues, however, were inopportune losses to No. 11 Notre Dame and No. 5 Oregon. The trip to the Alamo Bowl is the fourth-straight bowl game appearance for USC, with the streak dating back to the 2019 season.

TCU has played in 35 bowl games and has an overall record of 18-16-1. The Horned Frogs have been to four-straight bowl games, and in 2024, they took down the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns in the New Mexico Bowl.

While the season will go down as another underwhelming finish for a super-talented roster, the opportunity to clash with USC, a surging Big Ten program, is not one that should be taken lightly.
