Temple QB E.J. Warner to test transfer portal
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

Temple quarterback E.J. Warner is entering the transfer portal.

The son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Kurt Warner set single-season records in passing touchdowns (23) and 300-yard games (four) in 2023. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

"I am forever grateful to Temple University, Coach (Stan) Drayton, and Coach (Danny) Langsdorf for the opportunity they gave me to pursue my dream of playing college football," Warner wrote Tuesday on Twitter. "Knowing the belief they had in me and wanting to help them bring back the winning ways of Temple football is what makes this so tough."

Warner completed 57.5 percent of his passes for 3,076 yards with 23 touchdowns and 12 interceptions this season. He has thrown for 6,104 yards with 41 TDs and 24 picks over the last two years.

Why Penn State should root for an early end to Texas A&M's season

The Penn State Nittany Lions might be playing extra close attention to the Texas A M Aggies the rest of the 2025 season. On Thursday, ESPN college football reporter Adam Rittenberg wrote about an already chaotic coaching carousel, which Penn State entered earlier this month by firing head coach James Franklin with $49 million owed on his contract, and labeled Texas A M's Mike Elko a top option for the Nittany Lions. He should be even more in demand with Matt Rhule, who had been connected to the job since it opened, signing a two-year extension with Nebraska through 2032. As Rittenberg notes, Elko has ties to the area, playing collegiately at Penn and growing up in nearby New Jersey. Potential deep CFP run perhaps biggest obstacle in Mike Elko becoming Penn State head coach "Elko might be deciding between two well-resourced programs," Rittenberg wrote. "The again," he added, "if Texas A M makes the CFP as a top-four seed, Penn State might have to make its hire sooner." Indeed, the longer the Aggies' season goes, the less realistic Elko becomes as a relocation candidate. On Oct. 7, the NCAA moved to a single college football transfer portal window, set for Jan. 2-16, 2026. The first round of the 12-team College Football Playoff runs from Dec. 19-20 and includes teams ranked 5-12 in the playoff rankings. The quarterfinals, featuring the country's top four teams, are scheduled for Dec. 31-Jan. 1. If Associated Press No. 3 Texas A M (8-0, 5-0 in SEC) ends the season with a top-four seed or goes on an extended CFP run, Elko might be less likely to feature in Penn State's plans. The NCAA's amended transfer portal rules grant players on teams that reach the championship game, set for Jan. 19, a five-day period (Jan. 20-24) to enter the portal, but getting a late start would put Elko at a disadvantage, as most other top players in the portal would be off the board. The earlier the Aggies' season ends, the better for Penn State's ability to lure him from College Station to Happy Valley. Barring a stunning collapse over its final four games, however, Texas A M has positioned itself well to earn an at-large bid if it doesn't receive the SEC's automatic berth. Over its final four games, Texas A M plays on the road against No. 19 Missouri (6-2, 2-2 in SEC) and No. 20 Texas (6-2, 3-1 in SEC) and at home against South Carolina (3-5, 1-5 in SEC) and Samford (1-7, 1-5 in Southern). Even with losses in its two ranked road tests, Texas A M should be a 10-2 team at the end of the regular season, likely good enough to make the playoffs. Per ESPN's Football Power Index, the Aggies are projected to be an 11-win team, with a 96.4 percent chance to make the CFP and a 19.9 percent chance to reach the national championship game, the fourth-best odds in the country. Elko is by far the best candidate being tossed around in Penn State's head coach search, and he becomes more attractive — and unattainable — with each win.

Three teams that should pursue a trade for Titans WR Calvin Ridley

Three teams that should pursue a trade for Titans WR Calvin Ridley

As the Tennessee Titans are free falling towards another season as one of the NFL's worst teams, they will likely sell off some of their higher priced players before the NFL's Nov. 4 trade deadline. Wide receiver Calvin Ridley tops the list of available players on the trade block even as he deals with a hamstring injury. Ridley's big play ability makes him an attractive option for teams looking to add another wide receiver. Even though he's been experiencing an up and down season so far - Ridley has only 16 receptions for 290 yards, he surpassed 1,000 yards in each of the past two seasons following sitting out 2022 due to being suspended for betting. So assuming Ridley is healthy enough to remain a trade target, here are the teams that should take a chance on the controversial wide out. Pittsburgh Steelers Aaron Rodgers may have stabilized the Steelers' quarterback position, but that doesn't mean the offense is as consistent as it needs to be for Pittsburgh to truly contend in the AFC. Pittsburgh has only exceeded 30 points twice through seven games. Desperate to increase their offensive output, especially with the defense struggling, the Steelers could use more receiver depth behind DK Metcalf. Acquiring Ridley would provide Rodgers another weapon and make the decision to place double coverage on Metcalf more of a risk for opponents. If Ridley can get back to form, he would unlock an extra dimension for a Steelers team that still holds a comfortable lead in the AFC North. New England Patriots One of the surprising results of the season so far, the Patriots are 6-2 and in first place in the AFC East. But if New England truly hopes to make a playoff push, second-year quarterback Drake Maye may need more at his disposal. To this point, Maye has been forced to work without a true deep threat. And while he's been able to methodically move the ball, Ridley would make his life much easier and stretch the field even more. Seattle Seahawks Another first place team who could use another playmaker, the Seattle Seahawks' offense has started to show signs of weakness in recent weeks. Much like the Steelers, the Seahawks have a legitimate No. 1 wide receiver in Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month for October. He's been brilliant with three-straight 100 plus-yard games. However, Seattle has only scored 30 points once in its last four games. Pairing Smith-Njigba with Ridley would make the Seahawks more potent as they approach a stretch of the schedule with pivotal divisional matchups coming up.

Steelers Sign Former Eagles Versatile OL

With Pro Bowl left guard Isaac Seumalo banged up heading into a Week 9 game against the Indianapolis Colts, the Pittsburgh Steelers have brought in some additional depth on the offensive line. Pittsburgh Signs Former Eagles OL The Steelers signed offensive lineman Jack Driscoll amidst a slew of practice squad moves earlier this week that also included adding safety Darrick Forrest and wide receiver John Rhys Plumlee, who had been a fan favorite during his initial tenure with the team last summer. Driscoll's Career After beginning his collegiate career at UMass and playing a combined 22 games there between the 2016 and 2017 seasons, Driscoll transferred to Auburn ahead of the 2018 campaign. After spending two years with the program and playing in 25 contests, Driscoll declared for the 2020 NFL Draft and was selected in the fourth round by the Philadelphia Eagles. He started four games as a rookie before starting all nine contests he suited up for in 2021 while both beginning and ending the year on the reserve/injured list. The Miami Dolphins signed Driscoll in March 2024, though he didn't make their 53-man roster and let go at final roster cuts. He ultimately landed back with the Eagles, first signing to their practice squad before joining the active roster. From 2022 to 2024, Driscoll played in 47 games for the Eagles and started five of them while logging a total of 636 offensive reps over that stretch. The 28-year-old didn't see the field throughout Philadelphia's playoff run last year, but he still came away with a Super Bowl ring after the team defeated the Kansas City Chiefs. Driscoll's Potential Role with Steelers The only other offensive linemen on Pittsburgh's practice squad are Dylan Cook and Steven Jones. Considering neither of them have ever appeared in a regular season game, Driscoll immediately becomes the most obvious elevation candidate among that trio. Seumalo has been listed as a non-participant on each of the Steelers' two injury reports so far this week. If he can't play against the Colts, it wouldn't come as a surprise if Driscoll were to be a part of the game day roster as a backup option along the offensive line. He's never played left guard in the NFL, as most of his time has come at right tackle and right guard with some left tackle reps sprinkled in. With Spencer Anderson in line to start at left guard if Seumalo is ruled out, however, Pittsburgh could also choose to use Driscoll as part of its jumbo package if he is in fact elevated and active for this week's contest.

Mariners Can Afford To Cut Ties With 5-Year Veteran

The Seattle Mariners, unfortunately, are on the outside looking in right now with the World Series still in full swing. The Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers are still duking it out for the trophy, as of writing, and the Mariners are among the 28 other teams in Major League Baseball having to start to think about the 2026 season. Seattle was so close to making it to its first World Series in franchise history. As close as you can get without making it, being Game 7 of the American League Championship Series. Now, the Mariners have to try to flush all of that away and find a way to get even better in 2026. Those decisions will come. There will be free agent additions, maybe some trades, and other things of that nature. But, with the offseason here, teams have to also take care of some tasks right away, including the Nov. 21st deadline for player to decide whether to give contracts to arbitration-eligible players. It will be some of the first big decisions of the offseason. MLB.com Mariners insider Daniel Kramer did a primer for the offseason and one player they suggested could be non-tendered is veteran reliever Tayler Saucedo. "Who might be a non-tender candidate, and when does the club have to make that decision? Teams have until Nov. 21 to decide whether to tender a contract to each of their arbitration-eligible players," Kramer said. "Those not tendered a contract will become free agents. It would make sense to move on from Tayler Saucedo "Among those criteria, reliever Tayler Saucedo is the clearest candidate, given that this is his second year of eligibility, that he’d earn at least the $937,500 figure from last year and that he spent most of 2025 with Triple-A Tacoma, where the lefty also missed two months with a left lat strain." In an offseason that will have plenty of decisions, this is a suggestion that makes a lot of sense. Saucedo made only 10 appearances for the Mariners in 2025 and had a 7.43 ERA to show for it. He was steady for Seattle the two previous seasons in 2023 and 2024. In 2023, he had a 3.59 ERA in 52 outings. He followed up with a 3.49 ERA in 53 appearances in 2024. Seattle had one of the better bullpens in baseball in 2025. The Mariners finished the regular season with the ninth-ranked bullpen ERA at 3.72 and that was with Saucedo only pitching in 10 games. If the Mariners are looking for some potential ways to save some cash, this would be a good way, but not to save a lot. More MLB: Josh Naylor Raises Eyebrows With Comment On Cal Raleigh's Instagram
