Tennessee Vols are pursuing a 2025 4-star recruit from Louisiana
Randy Sartin-USA TODAY Sports

One of the Tennessee Vols' best players on the roster, running back Dylan Sampson, is from Louisiana.

And it appears the Vols are hoping to dip into the Boot to steal another talented recruit.

According to On3's Sam Spiegelman, Tennessee is one of three teams, along with Miami and LSU, that's "leading the way" for 2025 four-star running back D'Shaun Ford.

Ole Miss is also trying to get into the mix.

Ford, 5-foot-11/210 lbs from Opelousas, LA, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 30 running back in the nation and the No. 12 player in the state of Louisiana.

Ford is a tough runner who doesn't go down easy. And he helped Opelousas win a state championship this past week.

Tennessee should be a popular destination for running backs after the success that Jaylen Wright (along with Sampson and Jabari Small) found rushing the ball in 2023 (1,013 rushing yards while sharing carries with Sampson and Small).

The Vols were second in the SEC in 2023 at 202.5 rushing yards per game (Tennessee was No. 12 in the nation).

It's still early in Ford's recruitment, but this is certainly a player to watch for the Vols during the 2025 recruiting cycle.
