Tennessee Vols no longer pursuing top transfer portal target
Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The Tennessee Vols are reportedly no longer pursuing one of the top players in the NCAA transfer portal.

According to a report from On3, the Vols have stopped their pursuit of Texas A&M transfer wide receiver Evan Stewart.

"From talking to some sources this afternoon, Tennessee is moving on from recruiting Evan Stewart," reported On3's Pete Nakos.

Earlier on Tuesday, Nakos noted that Stewart was closely watching Vols quarterback Nico Iamaleava during the Citrus Bowl as he weighs his transfer options.

Stewart is a former five-star recruit who was rated as the top wide receiver in the 2022 class.

Tennessee's decision to stop recruiting Stewart could mean that Vols wide receiver Bru McCoy is going to return for another season. McCoy suffered a season-ending injury in the Vols' win against South Carolina in late September.
