Mike Brown is a four-star wide receiver from Spring, Texas. Him committing to the Texas Aggies is a big deal for Mike Elko and staff for that reason alone.
Winning in-state talent, especially in a state like Texas, can be vital.
There's more to the story behind this big Texas A&M recruiting win, though. Brown's father, Reggie Brown, was a linebacker for the Aggies and a darn good one at that. He earned All-Southwest Conference honors in his senior season after notching 90 tackles and two interceptions. He was then selected by the Detroit Lions in the first round of the 1996 NFL Draft.
The younger Brown has history with the Aggies. His mom even went to Texas A&M. Elko and the Aggies have unsurprisingly made him one of the top targets on the 2026 recruiting cycle, and on Monday that attention paid off.

Making this an even more important commitment for Texas A&M is the competition the Aggies beat out. Other big-time programs that were in the running for Brown included Texas, Oklahoma, Michigan, Ohio State and Oregon.
Ultimately, the connection Texas A&M made with Brown helped win him over, even with the family ties.
“I felt really comfortable talking with Coach Elko,” he had told On3 in the past “You can tell that he wants to know about me, not just my game."
Brown also likes co-offensive coordinator and wideouts coach Holmon Wiggins.
"[He] shared some real knowledge. It was exciting to listen to; you can hear his passion," Brown said of Wiggins. “The history of A&M, top-notch coaches, and a tight community makes it a great place.”
Brown is ranked as the No. 55 wideout in the 2026 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He's also the No. 50 recruit from the talent-laden state of Texas.
