Texas A&M might have a close eye on Michigan-Ohio State

Is a new "Day" fast approaching for Texas A&M?

The Aggies coaching search is still in its infancy, and Fox Sports college football insider Bruce Feldman reported on Saturday that the university might have its eyes on Ohio State head coach Ryan Day.

According to Feldman, that could lead to chants of "Go Blue!" at Texas A&M in Week 13 because a third consecutive loss for Day to arch-nemesis Michigan could be the impetus he needs to move on from Columbus.

"Now, if [the Buckeyes] win here today ... I seriously doubt with them in the playoff mix, that he would be taking that call. The Aggies, I think, are optimistic that if they don't that game, that he might be open to their pitch," said Feldman.

Day has been one of the best college coaches since taking over full-time for Urban Meyer at Ohio State in 2019. He has a 56-6 record but has lost his past two to the Wolverines, prompting questions about his job security in Columbus.

Most programs would relish the opportunity to be 11-0 in back-to-back seasons and a coach with a .903 winning percentage, but that isn't enough for Ohio State.

The Buckeyes would likely regret allowing Day to leave. Then again, college football rarely runs on rational thinking, making it feasible that the university could move in a different direction with a loss to the Wolverines.

That would be the biggest gift anyone could give Texas A&M this holiday season.
