Texas A&M had to work a little bit in the 42-24 win over UTSA, but that wasn’t the worst thing in the world.

All was fine after allowing a huge touchdown run to start the second half, reeling off three straight touchdown drives to put it away. The SEC’s Aggies were explosive, the passing game worked, and overall, they worked on what they needed to.

Now it’s time to get everything else in place with a showdown against Notre Dame up next.

Utah State also had a successful first week against a Texas school, pushing past UTEP 28-16 without much of a problem. This might be a paycheck game, but the Mountain West’s Aggies should be dangerous enough to make A&M do more than go through the motions.

Why Utah State Will Win

The passing attack might not be anything Texas A&M can’t handle, but Bryson Barnes is a good veteran who should stretch the field a bit. He threw for 233 yards against UTEP and ran for a touchdown, and running back Miles Davis ran for 88 yards and led the team with 61 receiving yards.

That’s exactly what the Aggies were looking for out of their quarterback.

It would’ve been nice to get more out of the running game, but Marcel Reed was solid, throwing for 289 yards and four scores. He also led the team with 39 rushing yards, but the coaching staff didn’t build up the wear and tear on the backs. That will happen this week, and Reed will shine without having to press too much.
