Since joining the SEC, the Texas Longhorns have been on a hot recruiting streak.
The Longhorns had the top overall 2025 recruiting class and currently have the No. 12 overall 2026 recruiting class via On3 Sports. A stat posted by On3 Recruits on X showed Texas' dominance.
Texas has the seventh-highest percentage of blue-chip commits in the nation from the 2026 class, at 75%. A blue-chip recruit or commit is a four-star or higher prospect in their respective class.
The Longhorns made a statement in their first season in the SEC, going 11-1 and reaching the conference championship game. Texas then made the College Football Playoff as the No. 5 seed.
Texas made the semifinals of the playoff after beating the Clemson Tigers and the Arizona State Sun Devils. However, the Longhorns lost to the eventual national champions, the Ohio State Buckeyes, 28-14.
Texas has commitments from five-star quarterback Dia Bell, four-star receiver Chris Stewart, four-star offensive tackle Max Wright and three-star inside offensive lineman Nicolas Robertson.
Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian started to get traction in the 2023 season, posting a 12-2 record and reaching the playoff for the first time in program history.
In his first season at Texas in 2021, he finished the year at 5-7. In 2022, Sarkisian had his first winning season in Austin, going 8-5. From 2021-24, Sarkisian has an overall record of 38-17 with two playoff appearances and one bowl game appearance.
Texas opens the 2025 season with a rematch against Ohio State on Aug. 30.
