The Texas Longhorns' season is over after a Cotton Bowl loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes. With that, Texas upperclassmen will soon decide whether or not they will enter the NFL draft or return for another season.
Some are speculating on whether or not All-American safety Michael Taaffe will return to Austin for another year after strong postgame reactions to the Longhorns' College Football Playoff loss. According to one insider, a Taaffe return is a possibility.
Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram updated expected draft decisions for several Texas players. According to Harris, "buzz from draft folks and Texas folks in Dallas" has the Longhorns returning Taaffe alongside offensive lineman DJ Campbell and running back Jaydon Blue.
Harris added that top wide receiver Matthew Golden, right tackle Cam Williams, starting quarterback Quinn Ewers and edge rusher Trey Moore are expected to enter the NFL draft.
As part of the update Harris added the caveat, "A lot still to play out as guys will request grades from the league, and potential NIL opportunities could develop to get draft guys to stay back. This is just the early lean for these guys."
Texas will hope to return a handful of potential early NFL entrees in the coming months.
