Texas DC Pete Kwiatkowski Gives Update on Defensive Line Depth

It's not very often that we get to hear from the Texas Longhorns coordinators.

Texas defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski, offensive coordinator Kyle Flood, and special teams coordinator Jeff Banks were each available to the media on Tuesday.

With fall camp beginning and numerous new faces on the roster, each coach had plenty to discuss. For Kwiatkowski in particular, the defensive line was a popular topic. The Longhorns signed five defensive lineman via the transfer portal this offseason.

Kwiatkowski specifically mentioned three players that he feels good about heading into the season. Alex January, a second-year defensive lineman for the Longhorns, appears to have made progress this offseason. "His growth has been good," Kwiatkowski said of January.

Transfer signees Cole Brevard and Hero Kanu were also pointed out by Kwiatkowski. Brevard is "a big dude that's hard to move" and Kanu "has been really good."

"It’s hard to say who’s going to be the starters. They’re all going to play," Kwiatkowski said.
